Having said that, 5G receivers require a clear line of sight to cellular towers. Otherwise, the obstacles in the path of radio signals can weaken them or obstruct their movement.

Typically, the speeds you receive from any connection majorly depend on the plan you’re subscribed to. However, most fiber connections can offer symmetrical speeds from 100 Mbps to 50,000 Mbps.

This connection type is not as fast as fiber internet. However, it can still offer pretty decent internet speeds that can cater to almost all bandwidth-sensitive activities, such as remote working, sending/receiving heavy files, streaming HD content, etc.
You can easily get download speeds of 50 to 1,000 Mbps and upload speeds of 10 to 75 Mbps on a 5G home internet connection. Also, besides a clear line of sight, the distance between the cellular tower and the 5G receiver can affect internet speeds in a 5G home internet connection.

Fiber internet definitely beats a 5G home connection when it comes to speeds. The symmetrical speeds offered by fiber internet are gold standard and unmatchable by any other connection type.
However, limited nationwide availability paired with expensive plans and complex installation might not be suitable for most residential internet users. And, that’s where a 5G home internet can be a great alternative to a fiber connection. Besides offering reliable speeds, 5G home internet doesn’t involve any complex installation.
So, if there’s a fiber internet provider operating near you and offering affordable plans, go for it. Otherwise, subscribe to 5G home internet as it’s a great wireless alternative to traditional broadband connections.
